The Adelaide Roller Derby are returning to the Adelaide Showground and kicking off on Saturday, 7th April. The 2018 season begins in a massive way with a chance to relive the 2017 Grand Final seeing the two original teams go head to head as the reigning champs the Salty Dolls take on the Mile Die Club.
This is sure to be an aggressive grudge match as both teams try to gain momentum to begin the season. Will the Mile Die Club claw their way up for a win? Or will the Salty Dolls keep the wind at their back and sail away with the win?
The Adelaide Roller Derby were established in 2007 and is Adelaide’s oldest and largest roller derby league. Comprised of approximately 110 members, the league has four home teams, three travel teams, and an amazing team of officials.
The league is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned and operated by skaters for skaters. Roller Derby is a predominantly female-only, full contact sport. The sport operates on a DIY ethos – the skaters do everything from training plans, to event management and merchandising.
Roller Derby across the world is empowering women, building community and creating positive change.
Come cheer for your favourite teams and skaters on Saturday, 7th April, and enjoy even more derby action throughout the season. The bar will be open and there will be food available; bring a chair, blankets or cushion for your tush.
As always, there will be off-track entertainment with live music from Adelaide’s Juliette Seizure & the Tremor-Dolls, the sparkling wit of your Little Commie Bastards and a bout village full of local creators, as well as plenty of room for little skaters with safety gear.
The full Adelaide Roller Derby 2018 Season runs through April – August.
