ADELAIDE SOUL FOLK DUO SITARA ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF THEIR NEW CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE - ‘ALCHEMY’ AN
SITARA, the soul folk duo of Adelaide sisters Erin & Tess Fowler, today announced the pending release of their first full-length visual album, ALCHEMY on June 7th and the album‘s first single ‘Oh Mama’.
A cinematic journey imploding with sensual drama, this intimately choreographed time-lapse story evokes a living musical landscape. The new eight-track album crosses the greater human senses that influence experiences, allowing Adelaide’s the renowned duo to express idioms of darker contemplations.
Working with Director Morgan Wright and Cinematographer Ella Kroning from Adelaide’s leading independent film studio, Repeater Productions, and in collaboration with visual time-lapse expert Nick Graalman, Sitara developed the cinematic experience as an extension to their unreleased studio album written and recorded in 2016 with leading South Australian producer Kiah Gossner. Alchemy is an album intentionally written as a cohesive body of work for cinematic experience.
“Alchemy is one of our greatest artistic endeavors to date” Said Tess Fowler
“Between us we have run artist spaces, appeared in feature films, and released various musical projects, but none of our previous artistic endeavors have been as emotionally and personally directed as this project. We really wanted to ensure that the release had true relevance to us and the society we live within; we have worked endlessly to ensure this translated both musically and visually”
Leading up to the full release of ALCHEMY, Sitara will be releasing five visual tracks as feature, snippet, or preview videos, one per week, leading up to June 7; released in conjunction with today’s announcement is the first installment of the visual experience ‘Oh Mama’.
“Oh Mama” - Sitara
Musically an exploration of women in society – ‘Oh Mama’ delivers feelings of social discomfort and misplacement in an effort to connect a shared experience with other women through a sense of tribe and collective belonging. Visually it depicts a ‘false' empowerment of women who are often expected to be bold, harsh and rigid in their strength. The first single explores the expressive, fluid and soft nature of femininity that is often denied or condoned in society.
The complete audiovisual narrative of ALCHEMY will be independently released on June 6 with a hometown release at Adelaide’s Mercury Cinema, followed by a collection of touring dates around the country.
